AGAIN?!!? Yes. Approximately 14 months after the last incident, I was out early this morning for my 10 miler before work. Guess what happened.
I hurried across 17th Street at Spring and stepped right into the v-shaped gutter before the sidewalk, turning my right ankle to 90 degrees. At least it's the other foot this time. Balance is important.
Now I have a large egg-shaped lump between the top of my foot and my ankle. Actually, the whole foot is swelling up now. So I'll be hopping around on one foot for a while I guess. Maybe I should just stick to swimming. Or maybe reading. Something less joint-intensive.
Rest, ice, compression, elevation. With my wealth of injury experience, I could be a PT.
Is it my fault? How is it possible that I did this TWICE inside of two years? I have been extra careful since the last time, always scanning ahead. I guess this time my attention must have wandered just for that fraction of a second necessary. And here we are now. Yay me.
Some of you dear readers may recall that I have been in my life a little accident prone. However, I like to think most of the more famous incidents were somehow alcohol related. Now though, I wonder.
One of my PT's told me that my joints have a lot of play in them and I will be prone to this type of injury. My joints can bend a long way, and do. Apparently there is a limit.
This sucks. Amazing swollen foot photos coming soon!

That sucks - Sorry! Concerning the accident prone nature of some people. . . My parents used to say that my initials stood for "accident prone."
