Municipal Government In Action!
Our recycling bin was smashed. Not surprising, as the recycling crew had tossed it directly in our alley driveway and someone drove over its top.
I called for a new one. They asked me for the old bin's number and I did not have it at the time. Fine, they said, just call us back and leave the number. We'll come and pick it up with your regular recycling.
So the new one arrived. It has a handle, an intact top, and wheels that roll. Sweet.
I called them back and gave a lady the number of the old bin so they could pick it up and we could avoid the charge for a new bin.
When I left the two bins (one new and full of stuff, one old, empty and smashed up) side by side next to our garbage can yesterday, I tipped the old, empty and smashed up one on its end so the number was clearly visible. I wanted to make it obvious that this old, empty, and smashed up bin was the one they needed to take. I'm sure these guys have a difficult job and wanted to make it easy on them.
They took away the new, full bin.
Today I called them again.

Wow, I'm surprised you even got a bin. I have requested one 3 times with no luck. I bet they just dump all the recycling off at the dump anyway.
