Five (5) years
Five years of marriage today. Six plus of being together. Seems like forever, and just yesterday. It's a shock to think that we've been together this long, and will be for much longer. At the same time, the thought of being without her seems completely foreign. I can't really conceive of not being with her.
In our short time together, we've bought two houses, started and finished college, completed a mess of sporting events, moved our careers along, traveled all over, learned to cook, found out we are both pretty good at what we do, fought like hell, made some sweet sweet love, become aunt and uncle multiple times, thrown some good parties, made friends, seen the acceleration of time, lost loved ones, gotten haircuts, rubbed each other the wrong way, rubbed each other the right way, lost and gained weight, built stuff, learned to talk to each other, seen a lot of movies, read some good books, swabbed cats' butts, fallen down, gotten up, been sick, and sad, and happy, and who knows what all else.
It's a long way from spinning class at the Chatham County Aquatic Center, a manipulated "group ride" at Hunter (best lie I ever told), and the dangerous liaisons days when we crossed the bitter lines of our two triathlon teams to date each other. Now we're both in school again, starting new ventures, planning a big trip, and making some very important plans for the future. Everything is on track. We have lived a very good and happy life together. I look forward to many more and hope we can remain blessed like this for a long time.
I love you Allison.
