and the beginning

the squatter, March 1
1. No desk
2. No phone
3. No network connection (it's not like I NEED the internet to do my job or anything)

I'm squatting in the back corner cube by the stairs. People stop to smirk and say "seriously?" I've complained to everyone I can think of. My boss in Savannah says she does not want me sitting in a "hallway" with all my high end computer gear.
Smart move. Politic.
All the offices with doors up here are inhabited by invisible future people. So I get the squat.
On the plus side, everyone I work with now is real nice. They even invited me to lunch with them. Wow! That hasn't happened before.
And they turned me on to Radio Nigel "not THAT 80's". And the first song I heard was from Public Image Limited. That takes me back. So I'll listen to this until I hear the Cure for the billionth time, then turn it off. Until then, it's pretty cool.
Now off to face the tornado, and the traffic.

I'm sorry you have no desk. I would have thought that the expensive computer equipment would have merited the office from the beginning.

thanks steph. First I tried the "I'm generally super-awesome" argument then the "I'm not the receptionist" tack, neither seemed to get as positive a reception as "his stuff is expensive."
whatever. If it gets me a damn office I'll take it.
